Hello! I am excited that you are here and thinking about, perhaps even prioritizing, your mental health and well-being. I have been working at UNCG’s Counseling & Psychological Services since 2007. I am grateful that students’ provide me with an opportunity to walk with them on their journey to becoming more authentically themselves! I believe that each of us deserves a space to explore who we are, what we want, what we value, and how we want to show up in the world. Counseling can be that space!

I joined the UNCG Counseling & Psychological Services staff in 2018. Working with UNCG students is inspiring and energizing, and I would not want to work anywhere else! When I meet with students, my focus is on helping to sort through and quiet down the “noise” around you as you find what makes you flourish, what gets in the way, and what makes your life worth living. I enjoy working with graduate students, with students dealing with disordered eating, mood disorders, and relationship concerns.. Outside of work, I am a movie buff, a music lover, and an animal lover. I get my peace from being outside, or just hanging out with friends and family.

Learn more about Shelby
Since joining UNCG’s Counseling & Psychological Services in 2016, I’ve worked primarily with students in need of crisis services and case management. I support students who experience significant mental health concerns and ensure they are aware of the resources available to them both on and off-campus. Working closely with the Dean of Students Office, I co-coordinate the University’s Crisis Management Process, which offers individualized support to students. This process aims to provide options for academic recovery and improving mental health & wellbeing. Additionally, I oversee the clinical functions of the Campus Violence Response Center (CVRC), supporting survivors of all types of violence. My greatest joys at work are meeting with students and connecting them with the best-fit resources and services. Outside of my roles at UNCG, I enjoy decorating, being adventurous with new recipes, spending time in the sunshine, and visiting with family and friends.

I joined UNCG Counseling and Psychological Services in August 2026 after completing my pre-doctoral internship at Auburn University Student Counseling & Psychological Services. I completed my Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
My passion lies in helping students navigate the many transitions that come along with being in college, whether it is your first time leaving home, you are continuing your education as a graduate student, or you are returning to school after some time away. College is an incredibly rewarding experience, but can be stressful as well, so my goal is to help you find your path throughout the experience. I also enjoy working with students struggling with anxiety, ADHD, and relationship concerns. My clinical approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, but I often integrate other perspectives to best meet the needs of my clients. It is my goal for your therapeutic journey to be one where you can build confidence in yourself and feel empowered to handle whatever life may throw your way.
Outside of work, I enjoy watching sports (college football and basketball in particular), playing board games, spending time in nature, bird watching, and painting miniatures.

I have been a therapist for 24 years and treat a wide variety of issues. Treatment should be as unique as you! Since one size does not fit all I will tailor treatment to fit your specific needs. You will find me warm, funny and authentic, with a deep belief that you possess the power to make the changes you so desire. I believe in a creative approach to healing (my office has aromatherapy, delicious candy, fun kinetic stress toys and a teddy bear, if needed), often encourage homework outside of the therapy session and will challenge you to identify sources of hope. I do have an extensive history in the performing arts as a ballet dancer and am passionate about helping performing artists navigate the rigors of training and the stage. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling the world with my husband.

I place importance on building a collaborative and non-judgmental therapeutic bond that celebrates authentic self-relation. My goal is for students to feel truly seen, creating chances for self-exploration. Some of my clinical interests include men’s issues, LGBTQPIA+ concerns, grief & loss, anger, depression, anxiety, issues with porn use, relationships, sexual health & functioning, and stress. Hi there. I joined Counseling and Psychological Services as a therapist in September 2024. Attending therapy can be rewarding but it can also be scary and exhausting. It’s my job to help you feel safe and understood as you work through moments of struggle and suffering. In therapy sessions I invite students to compassionately explore one’s inner world to better understand and adjust old behaviors that have previously helped one survive. I often encourage homework assignments between sessions to experiment with new ways of thinking and functioning. When I’m not at work, I enjoy hiking and playing pickleball.

Hello! I am a Joint Master’s of Social Work program intern. I am excited to be working with CAPS this year, as my own mental health journey began in the college counseling realm. Helping individuals find confidence, stability, and safety within themselves is my top priority, and my goal is for students to be able to explore their needs in a supportive environment. My background consists of having worked with college students in a mental health setting while receiving my undergraduate degree at Appalachian State University as well as working exclusively with neurodiverse individuals in post-secondary education settings over the past few years. Ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds and abilities are given tools that best fit their needs drives my love for counseling. Outside of CAPS, I love being outdoors, reading, and playing with my dog, Biscuit!
As a counselor, I bring a holistic approach to your well-being. I incorporate ACT, solution-focused, and feminist approaches into our work together. I identify as a Black biracial lesbian woman with Jamaican and Italian ancestry. I invite you to bring your most authentic self into our counseling sessions, where my goal is to create a space where you feel safe and supported.
Outside of my professional role, I enjoy walking in nature, playing sports, hip-hop and R&B dance fitness, trying vegetarian foods from various cuisines, and reading. I feel honored to accompany you on your journey towards healing, empowerment, self-discovery, and feeling better!
