What is Spartan Well-being Coaching?

Spartan Well-Being Coaching is a collaborative partnership between the student and a professional- certified coach or student peer guide. Utilizing evidence-based practices, a student and coach/guide will co-create solutions and strategies to address student driven goals. During the coaching experience students will be empowered and supported in the goals they have set. In the coaching process the coach/guide serves as an accountability partner and resource to the student. The ultimate goal is to help students to become engaged citizens through enriching their personal and professional development in a diverse and inclusive community of care.

Wellness coaches/peer guides will first help you assess your overall well-being, and then support you as you develop action plans and create behavior changes to sustain the healthy lifestyle you desire. While wellness coaches do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or provide psychological therapeutic interventions, they do empower you to utilize your strengths, skills and abilities to navigate life’s challenges. Students who are experiencing mental health challenges that are interrupting their quality of life and ability to function can access mental health treatment through Counseling and Psychological Services.
