Student Well-Being: itMatters

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST SPARTANS!
We hope that you are as excited as we are that you have chosen The University of North Carolina Greensboro for your collegiate experience. As part of UNCG’s comprehensive alcohol awareness, safety and prevention program for students, you are required to complete the program Student Well-Being: itMatters. Students will be automatically enrolled into this course and instructions for completing this training will be e-mailed to your iSpartan email account.
Student Well-Being: itMatters is an interactive, online course designed to provide you with information, knowledge, skills, and resources on topics that are often avoided or ignored, but that have a lot of influence on your personal success as a student and in life. Topics include alcohol; sexual behaviors; sexual violence; hazing; mental health and sleep wellness. Some of the modules are required, and some are optional. The optional modules are part of your Spartan Experience and will give you credit toward your co-curricular transcript, so don’t skip them!
All new Undergraduate Students (first year and transfers) and Graduate Students are required to complete Student Well-Being: itMatters.
The itMatters course opens at the beginning of June and MUST be completed by August 31. Failure to complete REQUIRED assigned courses will result in a hold on the student account, preventing registration for courses in the next semester.
Please email itMatters@uncg.edu if you have any questions or concerns.
How will students find out MORE about itMatters Courses? Students participating in SOAR are informed of the course requirement through presentations, as well as in written information included in orientation materials. New students entering the institution in the fall will receive an e-mail to their official UNCG iSpartan email account informing them when the course is available, this includes incoming adult students over 25, transfer, international, and graduate students. Additionally, students can log in here: go.uncg.edu/itmatters.

Course FAQs
itMatters is an interactive course designed to provide you with information, knowledge, skills and resources on topics that are often avoided or ignored, but that have a lot of influence on your personal success as a student and, more broadly, in life.
itMatters is an online, science-based alcohol and sexual violence awareness and prevention course for non-traditional student groups, including graduate, professional, online and adult learners. The course addresses the critical issues of sexual violence including definitions, resources, personal and community rights and responsibilities, and information related to bystander intervention education. itMatters contains content that is specifically required by the amendments to the Clery Act included in the 2013 VAWA Reauthorization, Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE Act), and Title IX as well as other pertinent federal regulations, enforced by the U.S. Department of Education.
The itMatters course is a required course for all incoming students, regardless of whether students are online, on campus, or a hybrid. While some students are distance/online learners only, this information is equally important given that alcohol misuse, hazing, and sexual violence happens in all communities, including virtual ones. The modules within the course are designed to provide knowledge, awareness and skills no matter where you are living and learning.
