scheduling a CAP(s) Appointment

The UNCG Counseling & Psychological Services offers an initial screening appointment for the purposes of discussing your concerns to determine the best course of action to resolve your distress. Screenings are offered by appointment and most students will typically be scheduled for an appointment within one to two weeks.**** To schedule an appointment, call our office at 336-334-5874, or come schedule in-person during business hours. The last few weeks of each semester, access to The Counseling & Psychological Services is through walk-in only.

With a semester break approaching, this allows students to get in as quickly as possible before the end of the semester. As the new semester begins, The Counseling & Psychological Services will resume scheduled initial screenings. We are located on the 2nd floor of the Anna M. Gove Student Health Center. Patient parking is available by permit only. You can obtain a permit at the front desk of Student Health Services.

Sometimes, due to various reasons, it may be indicated that it would be most beneficial for you to be referred to a provider outside of the UNCG Counseling & Psychological Services. If this is the case, the Clinical Case Manager is here to assist you with that process and ensure that you connect with the best-fit provider or agency.

Crisis

We are aware that situations requiring immediate attention can occur for students.   If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis, call 336-334-5874 or come directly to our office during business hours, or contact the UNCG Police at their 24-hour number, 336-334-4444.

Walk-in Services

If you are not in crisis, but you believe you need to be seen today, you can be scheduled for a same-day walk-in screening appointment. Walk-in appointments are scheduled Monday – Thursday between noon and 5 pm and on Friday between noon and 4 pm.

****All of The Counseling & Psychological Services therapists assist students with a variety of mental health, developmental and situational concerns. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but do keep in mind that requesting a specific counselor and/or very limited availability may not necessarily result in the first available appointment, resulting in longer wait times for an appointment.
