It is important to check out at the end of your medical clinic appointment or pharmacy visit to find out if there are any charges for your visit.

At check-out, you can request a walkout statement for the date of service. This statement can be used for:

    Student Health Fee

    At UNCG, we believe your health and well-being are vital to your success. The Student Health Fee is included in tuition for all undergraduate and graduate students, ensuring you have easy access to professional medical care at the Student Health Center throughout your time here.

    The fee is based on the number of credit hours you are enrolled in and covers services such as nurse consultations, counseling sessions, and sick visits – meaning you can see a healthcare provider for many types of visits at no additional cost.

    Your Student Health Fee provides access to a wide range of high-quality, compassionate care offered by our dedicated Student Health team.

    While the Student Health Fee covers many essential services, having health insurance remains important to ensure peace of mind and coverage for additional medical needs or more extensive care. Maintaining health insurance supports your overall well-being and success during your journey at UNCG.

    We’re here to care for you – whether you’re an undergraduate, graduate student, returning student, or a family member supporting your student’s health and education at UNCG.

      You WILL be charged for these services:

      • Psychiatry, physicals, annual well visits, and gynecology examinations
      • Lab tests, x-rays, vaccinations, allergy injections, medical supplies, sports medicine clinics, orthopedic equipment, and some procedures. Many are priced significantly below private sector prices.
      • Cost of prescriptions and over-the-counter medication. The Pharmacy accepts most health insurance for payment.
      • Missed Appointment Fees

      STUDENTS ENROLLED IN DISTANCE EDUCATION CLASSES DURING THE SUMMER

      Students enrolled exclusively in distance education classes are not charged a Student Health Fee. If you are not paying the University Health Services fee and would like to access services during the summer sessions, you will need to pay the SHC Summer Access Fee.

      Please note: Newly admitted students can receive the immunizations required to meet North Carolina’s immunization requirements without paying the summer fee.

      STUDENTS NOT ENROLLED DURING THE SUMMER

      Students who were enrolled during the previous spring semester and are pre-registered for the following fall semester are eligible to receive Student Health Services. However, there is a fee for each summer session. This is charged by the Student Health Services at the time of the first visit each summer session.

      STUDENTS ENROLLED DURING THE SUMMER

      The Summer Health Service Fee is prorated by the number of on-campus hours enrolled. There is a separate fee for each of the two summer sessions.

      If you miss an appointment without proper notice, an administrative fee will be charged for the following types of appointments:

      • Sports Medicine
      • Psychiatrist
      • Massage Therapy

      Payment for any charges incurred is due on the day of service. At Student Health Services (SHS), we accept:

      • Cash
      • Check
      • MasterCard or Visa
      • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
      • Charging the balance to your University Student Account*

      *Charges can be sent to your University Student Account, which is where tuition and fees are billed. Please note this is not the same as your SpartanCard.

      When charges are posted to your Student Account, they appear as a “Medical Service Charge” without any details about your visit, ensuring your privacy. It may take up to 4 days for charges to appear on your account.

      Protecting Your Privacy:
      SHS highly respects your right to privacy. Information about your visit will never be shared with anyone outside of Student Health Services without your written permission.

      How to Pay Your Student Account Balance:
      Payments can be made in person on the 1st floor of the Mossman Building or online through Spartan Genie. We strongly encourage you to check your Student Account regularly through Spartan Genie.

      If charges are deferred to the University Cashier’s Office, payment should be made within 30 days of receiving services or before the end of the current semester, whichever comes first.

      Please note:

      • Unpaid balances may result in holds on your student account, which can prevent you from registering for classes, accessing course schedules, graduating, or receiving transcripts.
      • Any balance remaining beyond the current semester will begin to accrue interest and may be sent to the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office for collections, which could lead to garnishment of state income tax refunds and involvement of external collection agencies.

      We encourage you to pay promptly to avoid these impacts on your academic progress.
