Jennifer Bell Brown Ph.D., LCMHCS (she, her, hers)

I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with you as you face challenges and life transitions! I believe that we all need support at times to live our best lives. I joined the Counseling & Psychological Services team in 2019. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. I received my doctorate in Counseling and Counselor Education from UNCG. I am also a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law, and practiced family law with Legal Aid of North Carolina. I work with the full range of conditions impacting mental health including depression, anxiety, psychosis, grief and loss, career, stress management, self-esteem, and chronic illness. I address the whole person through mindfulness-based interventions, CBT, and Motivational Interviewing. In my spare time, I love to go to the beach, bake, practice yoga, and spend time with my friends, family, and animals.

Well-Being Specialist

Angela White-Dobbins, MS (she/her/hers)

Angela White-Dobbins has been a part of the UNCG team since 2007, working with UNCG’s students has been enlightening and inspiring. Starting in the Counseling Center and now working in Spartan Well-being, I have had the opportunity to support and be a part of creating programs that will help students live their best lives. I love being a part of a team that supports and cares about the student’s and community that they serve.

Well-Being Specialist

Virginia Hernandez Zell, MPH, CHES, NBC-HWC (she/her/hers)

Virginia joined the Spartan Well-Being team in July 2024. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics and a master’s in public health from UNC Greensboro. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist and a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach. She has lived in North Carolina for years but is originally from Mexico. She has several years of experience working as a public health nutritionist and as a health educator and is passionate about educating others about nutrition and overall health and well-being. 

As a health coach, Virginia is an ally to students, helping them discover their strengths, and supporting them as they find their own way to thrive and maintain healthy lifestyles. She finds health coaching rewarding and enjoys helping others, providing students with a safe and non-judgmental space for them to share, explore new possibilities, and work on their well-being goals. 

In her personal life she enjoys baking, reading, playing/watching sports, hiking, spending time with family/friends, and traveling. She is very excited to be part of the UNCG community and look forward to supporting students achieve their well-being.

Well-Being Specialist

Susan Porter, LCSW, RYT (she/her)

Susan joined Spartan Well-Being in April 2025. As an alum, she has a Master’s degree in Social Work from the Joint Master’s in Social Work program here at UNCG and NC A&T. After graduating with her MSW, she spent two years in the youth development sector of the Peace Corps, developing programs for students and health workers in a rural community abroad. She has nine years of experience in clinical mental health and case management work and is also a registered yoga teacher. Susan is passionate about supporting students in connecting with themselves and each other and is excited to be a part of a campus community with great resources to help accomplish just that. In her personal life, Susan enjoys hiking, kayaking, yoga, and spending time with loved ones, including her two cats.
