Regularly scheduled workshops

When considering health, we often think only in terms of physical; however, true wellness is much broader. A holistic approach to wellness supports the whole person and encompasses eight dimensions. This presentation will explore the eight dimensions of wellness, provide an opportunity for you to examine your relationship with each dimension, and discover new ways to support your health and wellness.  

After participating in this workshop, students will be able to:  

  • Identify resources on campus and ways to improve their well-being by enhancing each dimension of wellness.  
  • Consider and explore their personal health and well-being.  
  • Understand the 8 dimensions of wellness.  

Sleep is important to our health and can have a great impact on our daily lives. In this workshop, you will learn about sleep hygiene and how to improve your sleep routine to improve your overall health.  

After participating in this workshop, students will be able to:  

  • Learn how to incorporate better sleeping habits that will improve their sleep hygiene.  
  • Recognize their own sleeping habits.  
  • Recognize what can negatively impact their sleep.  

A healthy diet for college students is necessary to improve energy, memory, and focus. In this workshop, you will learn about nutrient-rich diets, foods to avoid, and ways to use your nutrition to create a more robust immune system.  

After participating in this workshop, students will be able to:  

  • Learn ways to improve their nutrition while on campus
  • Understand the importance of good nutrition.  

Stress affects our mind, body, emotions, and behavior. It shows up differently for everyone. While some stress is a good thing as it aids in performance enhancement, other forms of stress can be very debilitating. Join the stress management workshop to learn more about stress, ways to cope, and some methods for self-care. After participating in this workshop, students will be able to: 

  • Identify stress 
  • Use effective coping strategies 
  • Create a self-care plan 
  • Learn about resources to help manage stress 

Healthy relationships involve honesty, trust, respect, and open communication between partners. Healthy relationships take effort and compromise from all parties. Learning and understanding how to maintain healthy relationships is important for overall health and well-being.  

After participating in this workshop, students will be able to:  

  • Explore any questions they may have about being part of a healthy relationship 
  • Understand the characteristics of a healthy and unhealthy relationship 

College is a time of rapid personal growth, new relationships, and increasing independence. Amid all these changes, understanding and maintaining healthy boundaries is essential for students’ emotional well-being, academic success, and interpersonal relationships. In this workshop, students will explore, identify, and strengthen personal boundaries in a safe and supportive environment. 

After participating in this workshop, students will be able to: 

  • Foster a supportive space for reflection and growth. 
  • Define what healthy boundaries are and why they matter. 
  • Identify personal values and limits. 
  • Practice assertive communication. 
  • Learn strategies for handling pushback or guilt. 

In this workshop, students will learn how to maintain healthy daily habits that support their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Topics of discussion include nutrition, physical activity, setting boundaries, assertive communications, and any other goal directed behavior change.  

After participating in this workshop, students will be able to: 

  • Create personal wellness goals and track progress over time 
  • Identify and build awareness around current lifestyle habits 
  • Learn practical tools for managing stress and time effectively 
  • Promote balanced eating, sleep, physical activity, and digital habits

This 30-minute workshop focuses on helping students identify and change behaviors that may be coercive or non-consensual. This is a judgement-free space to learn about coercion, its impact, and alternative strategies that minimize and reduce harm. Participants will learn the Recognize, Name, and Redirect method, and will practice identifying coercion within themselves and amongst their peers in a safe and affirming environment.  

After participating in the workshop, participants will be able to:  

  • Recognize the value of consent-based and coercive-free behaviors to themselves and their communities 
  • Identify internal and external non-consensual or coercive behaviors   
  • Develop a shame-free plan to redirect/reduce/cease such conduct.  
  • Increase knowledge of interpersonal and social consequences associated with non-consensual or coercive behaviors  

This workshop is designed to educate participants on sexual health by promoting healthy sexual practices and behaviors so they can make more informed decisions. Topics covered in the workshop include an overview of sexually transmitted infections (STI’s), intimate partner communication and consent, and barrier/contraceptive methods.  

After attending this workshop participants will be able to:  

  • Increase their knowledge of barrier methods, contraceptives, and correct usage 
  • Identify the three classifications of STI’s and treatment options  
  • Use correct ways of seeking and communicating consent  

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants (flowers, herbs, or trees) as a complementary health approach. Essential oils are most often used by inhaling them. Spartan Scents invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and sit in the present moment. In this workshop, participants will make their own aromatherapy inhalers or fragrance sachets to help promote relaxation.  

After participating in this workshop, students will:  

  • Incorporate a gratitude practice or create a personal self-care plan 
  • Create a personalized aromatherapy inhaler or fragrance sachet to take with them. 
  • Learn ways to slow down and become present in the moment
