Community Building
Community building groups are designed to help you get connected with other students on campus so you can get to know each other and develop a social community that you can have shared interests with, use as social support networks and help you feel connected.
BODY POSITIVITY
Body Positivity is a community-building group that invites students to participate in a positive and informative discussion about body image. A Spartan Well-Being peer will guide participants through two 1-hr sessions. Students will be able to explore their thoughts around body image and discuss the impact external factors (social media, trends, etc.) have on this topic. Students will create SMART goals at the end of the sessions that will help them think and feel more positive about their bodies.
project connect
Project Connect is a peer-facilitated program that helps students meet and get to know students outside of their social group and build a stronger community on campus. Students meet in groups of 4-6 over six 1-hour sessions. Students will engage in a series of thought-provoking questions and fun activities.
mINDFUL WALKING
Mindfulness is the practice of bringing your attention to the present moment. Mindful walking is the practice of becoming aware of your surroundings and how your body and mind feel while moving. This support group will help students to relax through mindful walking practices.
HEALTHY BEHAVIORS
Healthy behaviors are actions individuals take that affect their health. In this group we will learn about ways to make better choices and modify behaviors that negatively impact our health and well-being. This can include eating well, being physically active, setting appropriate boundaries, assertive communications, and any other goal directed behavior change.
