Graduate Student Trainee Program

The Counseling & Testing Center at UNCG invites applications for three half-time graduate student trainee positions (advanced practicum/internship) each academic year. Applications are accepted from UNCG doctoral students in Clinical Psychology, UNCG doctoral and masters students in Counselor Education, and joint UNCG-NCA&T masters students in Social Work. After a review of applications, individuals are selected to be interviewed by the Counseling & Testing Center staff. The three students who are hired will each be paid a stipend of $12,000.00 and will work during the fall and spring semesters of the next academic year. This is an advanced placement and is not appropriate for students without clinical experience.

The Counseling & Testing Center provides counseling services to UNCG students addressing a diverse range of mental health and developmental concerns. Trainees will provide individual psychotherapy and receive individual and group supervision. In addition, trainees will attend staff meetings, case conferences and training seminars and have opportunities to co-facilitate groups and outreach programs. Our diverse staff has extensive clinical and supervision/training experience and enjoys working with trainees. The Counseling & Testing Center is part of Student Health Services on campus.

Applicants are asked to complete the trainee application after the last day of classes in the fall semester. Electronic submissions are preferred. Review of applications begins February 4, 2013, and continues until the positions are filled.
